AFC Notes: Colts, Texans, Titans

Colts

Colts DC Matt Eberflus feels the level of competition their defense showed in OTAs is proving that they’ll have a superior amount of depth.

What we saw was competition,” Eberflus said, via Mike Chappell. “We saw it throughout the whole thing. We’ve never had this depth before. They’ve done a great job of building depth here.”

Colts HC Frank Reich reiterated that their defense has “great depth” and is confident they will improve from their Wild Card finish last season.

“We feel like we have great depth,” said Reich. “I just feel really strongly about our team and the players we have. I’m glad we had a draft and I’m glad we signed guys and so on and so forth, but I just feel we do have the right roster, the kind of players who are getting better. I think last year was a good year for us, but I’m anticipating that we’re stronger and better this year.”

Texans

Texans DE Jonathan Greenard explained that he’s working with defensive line specialist Brandon Jordan to improve his pass rushing moves.

Me and BT, we get it in a lot,” Greenard said, via TexansWire.com. “I’m really just fine-tuning everything. I kind of don’t really stick to one move. I try to polish all of mine. I definitely want to master one move, obviously. I’ve just been opening up my range of moves for everything. Getting more flexible. Getting more stronger, powerful, hands, eyes, just all working everything together.

Greenard says he feels much more comfortable as he prepares to enter his second season in the NFL.

“Now, I’ve got a year under my belt,” Greenard said. “I feel faster, I feel stronger, I feel more comfortable doing everything and everything just feels more smooth. I’m working on everything just so that way I can — and most of all, just getting in shape with this Houston heat.

Titans

  • Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com suspects an addition is coming for the Titans at tight end. However, he doesn’t get a sense that there’s urgency from the team’s perspective to add anyone.
  • As for new addition Julio Jones, Wyatt says he was impressed with what he saw from Jones during practice this past week. Wyatt mentions that Jones had a great attitude at practice, even though he didn’t need to be in attendance for OTAs.
