AFC Notes: Davante Adams, Sean Payton, Andy Reid, Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders

Broncos

The Broncos opened the season losing five of their first six games, but have since won three straight. 

“It’s the NFL. I mean, credit these guys,’’ Broncos HC Sean Payton said, via Mike Klis of KUSA. “There’s a little toughness to this league. I keep saying it — there’s that fine line between a groove and a rut. You have to bow up a little bit and you have to demand it of each other at practice during the week. You win during the week. I felt like we’ve been practicing during the week better — a lot better. If you do that and you demand that of each other, then Sundays become a little bit less chaotic.”

Chiefs

Chiefs HC Andy Reid was asked on Monday about WR Kadarius Toney and his usage this season. 

“Yeah. We’ll just keep coming with him,” said Reid, via ChiefsWire.com. “I just want to remind everyone that he did have knee surgery. So we’re taking it easy with him up to this point, and so just making sure he makes it through the year and in good health.”

“He played seven plays last week. And so we can play him more than that. And still, be okay.” Reid added. “I mean, we just keep an eye on his leg and make sure that we’re wrapping that out the right way and let him keep progressing as we go here throughout the year. I mean, that’s the important part.”

Raiders

Raiders WR Davante Adams said fourth-round QB Aidan O’Connell is mature beyond his years and doesn’t act like a young player.

“It was impressive, man. He’s as cool as the other side of the pillow,” Adams said, via PFT. “Dude is not a rookie. By years he is, but by action — and like you said, that poise that he has in those types of situations, you don’t see that often from a rookie quarterback. Like I said last week, the way he commands the huddle, the way he talks to us, the communication and confidence. Throw a pick down there early on in the game and the way he bounced back is impressive. So, I’m glad he is our guy.”
