AFC Notes: David Bailey, Harold Landry, Bills, Jets, Patriots

Bills

  • ESPN’s Ben Solak says he had multiple people at Bills training camp spotlight nickel CB Dee Alford as a key addition for the team this offseason.
  • Per Solak, there’s still internal belief in Bills WR Keon Coleman and he’ll continue to get snaps in the rotation even if he doesn’t surpass WR Josh Palmer for No. 3 in the pecking order. Solak adds there’s not a lot of pressure from the players behind him right now, which would include fourth-round WR Skyler Bell.
  • Solak notes Bills G Alec Anderson has a slight lead over free agent addition Austin Corbett to start at left guard but that could change by Week 1.

Jets

So far, the best player for the Jets in the early stages of training camp has been RT Armand Membou. The second-year tackle has been dominating practice, and he’s about the only offensive lineman who can slow down first-round DE David Bailey, another standout. Membou has high goals for this upcoming season.

“Pro Bowls and All-Pros are great, but [what] I want is when that rookie D-end comes in his room and asks his vets who’s the best tackle in the league, I want them to say, ‘No. 70 from the Jets, he’s that dude,'” Membou said via ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “That’s kind of my mentality.”

Patriots

  • Patriots HC Mike Vrabel on OLB Harold Landry, who’s on the PUP list as he recovers from a knee injury: “Continuing to prove. We don’t want to rush anything… Want to give him every opportunity to get back and feel good and feel confident before we start his clock and take him off the PUP list.” (Mark Daniels)
