Broncos
One of the most impactful additions of the 2026 offseason could prove to be the Broncos’ trade for WR Jaylen Waddle. The move gave QB Bo Nix a No. 1 receiver and a much-needed matchup-dictator for Denver’s offense. The early reviews on Waddle from Nix have been strong.
“He’s an explosive playmaker,” Nix said via Pro Football Talk. “The guy is really good at what he does. He makes plays, he’s fast, he’s really explosive. He’s great ball in hand, he’s great going to get the ball deep, he’s great in the screen game. He can do just a lot of things. He’s very versatile. He adds an extra element to our offense, and it’s exciting.
“We have a lot of different weapons that we’re using, and I think top to bottom, this is just a really strong team, really good. We just have to find what works for us and find ways to utilize all our tools.”
- Regarding Broncos WR Courtland Sutton not participating in training camp for two straight days, Luca Evans writes that his sense is there’s no impending trade or any kind of injury for Sutton and their current approach for him is regarding load management.
- Broncos HC Sean Payton mentioned Waddle was dealing with muscle tightness on Wednesday, but is sure the receiver will be fine, per Mike Klis.
- Waddle didn’t practice on Thursday, as he had a wrap on his left knee doing light work on a side field. Payton thinks he could be back in four to five days. (James Palmer)
Chiefs
Chiefs WR Andrew Armstrong enters the second year of his career after being an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas with brief stints on the Dolphins and Lions. Armstrong said he enjoys playing under WRs coach Chad O’Shea.
“I love (WR) Coach (Chad) O’Shea. He is going to be hard on me, but that is the type of coach I love to play for,” Armstrong said, via ChiefsWire. “A coach that is really going to get on you and going to tell you what to do—the small details. That is exactly what Coach O’Shea does. When I get that coaching from him, I love it. That is the type of way I want to be coached.”
Armstrong is focused on working hard in training camp to earn a roster spot.
“Just work. It was not too much of knowing the best way to earn a roster spot; it was just coming in, working, and knowing that nothing is given to nobody,” Armstrong said. “I knew that I was going to have to come in here and be the type of player that I can be. Being the best type of player on and off the field, in the training room, inside the locker room, and a great teammate. It’s the little things like that that help me come in here and fight for a spot.”
- Regarding current injuries, Chiefs HC Andy Reid said WR Cyrus Allen (shin), WR Xavier Worthy (shoulder) and DE Ashton Gillotte (hamstring) are “making improvements,” per Charles Goldman.
- Reid added that LB Jeffrey Bassa suffered a groin strain, CB Kristian Fulton has a hip flexor, and LB Drue Tranquill is dealing with a lower back strain.
- As for WR Rashee Rice‘s recovery from a knee injury, Reid said he got 11-on-11 reps in Wednesday’s practice, earlier than expected, but they are still approaching things cautiously: “He got a lot of good reps today… Just have to ease him back in and keep working…” (Goldman)
Raiders
Raiders DE Maxx Crosby told the media that he has extra motivation this season given that he was shut down at the end of 2025 due to injury.
“Of course, there’s added motivation,” Crosby said, via Sam Warren of TheAthletic.com. “It’s beautiful at the same time. I love being doubted. I love being told I can’t do something because I’ll go to the end of the world to make it happen.”
“It’s a blessing, man,” Crosby added on practicing for the first time since December. “I love this game. I heard all the noise and all those things, but everyone knows that when my back’s against the wall, that’s when I’m at my best. I love the pressure. That’s what I live and thrive on. It’s just added points and gives me a little more reason to go out there and whoop ass.”
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made comments that began churning the rumor mill of a potential trade for Raiders DE Maxx Crosby. Crosby isn’t concerning himself with the trade talk after a tumultuous offseason surrounding trade talk.
“It doesn’t change anything for me, to be honest,” Crosby said Thursday, via Jarrett Bell of USA Today. “People act like they don’t. . . . If you’re an athlete in this position, you see everything. Regardless, if you want to or not.”
