AFC South Notes: Colts, Texans, Titans

Colts

Colts GM Chris Ballard mentioned during an interview with Pro Football Talk that they have no intention of signing free agents receivers such as Dez Bryant or Jeremy Maclin at this point in time.

“Good players, without question,” Ballard said, via Colts.com. “Right now internally we’re just gonna continue to work with this young group we have, and continue to go down the preseason path.”

While both players are talented, Ballard explained that it’s hard to pick someone up at this point in the year and get them on the same page with the rest of the team.

“It’s really hard. In baseball, they can move and you can slot a guy playing third base, and playing third base is no different if you’re playing for the Houston Astros, the Cubs, the Braves — it doesn’t matter. It’s still third base. They might have little shifts, but at the end of the day it’s still third base,” Ballard said. “In football, the verbiage is different in the offense, the way that they want you to actually do what you have to do to be successful as a player might be a little bit different, and then from a timing and chemistry standpoint. So it’s very difficult.

Texans

  • Former Colts coach Chuck Pagano has attended the past two training camp practices for the Texans. (Aaron Wilson)
  • Texans activated TE Jevoni Robinson from PUP list. (NFLTR)

Titans

  • According to Davenport, Vaccaro has taken pretty much all of the first-team reps and has chemistry brewing with Kevin Byard.
