Colts Sign QB Andrew Luck To A Four Year Deal

The Indianapolis Colts have officially signed No. 1 overall pick QB Andrew Luck to a four-year deal, per Mike Chappell.

It’s widely expected that Luck’s contract will be very close to the one that Cam Newton signed last year with the Panthers. Newton received a four contract worth $22.025 million  and include a $14.5 million signing bonus.

The Indianapolis Star reports that Indianapolis Colts Owner Jim Irsay expects Quarterback Andrew Luck  to report to training camp, despite not having signed his contract as of yet. Irsay reports that the two sides are “very close” to signing the deal.

Irsay is very sure that he will sign this year’s 1st overall pick before camp. “He’ll be in camp, there is no question that he’ll be signed in time. We’ll be talking this week, and we are talking, and there’s no question that he’ll be signed for the beginning of training camp and ready to go. No doubt about it. We’ve been close, and I think we’ll be able to accomplish the final couple details, and it’s going to get done. No doubt about it.”

Now that the Washington Redskins signed 2nd overall pick Robert Griffin III to a 4 year $21.1 million contract, Luck’s contract talks should move more smoothly, as this is expected to be similar to the money that he will receive.
