Antonio Brown Looking For $18M-$20M Per Year As Part Of New Deal?

Jason La Canfora mentions that word around the league is that Antonio Brown wants between $18 million – $20 million per year as part of a new deal from his next team.

It’s clear that Brown’s asking price could be impacting the trade market for him, as this would be a really steep salary for teams to take on after parting with draft compensation for him.

  • Earlier in the day, La Canfora reported that he continues to hear that the most “closely linked” to Brown right now are the Raiders and Eagles. La Canfora says that several teams who have been in the mix believe a trade with the Raiders would already be done if not for contractual hold-ups between Oakland and Brown’s reps.
  • Yesterday, Aaron Wilson reported that he has told people he thinks he’ll wind up with the Raiders, even though the decision isn’t in his hands.
  • Michael Gehlken mentioned that itโ€™s believed Brown would welcome joining the Raiders and a source close to the receiver said the 2020 move to Las Vegas is a factor in his thinking, given that there will be no state income taxes in Nevada.

A report surfaced Thursday night that the Steelers were closing in on a deal with the Bills, but the team later announced that they’re out on Brown and moving in a new direction.

Brown, 30, is a former sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2010. He’s currently in the third year of his five-year, $72.71 million contract that included a $19 million signing bonus and stands to make base salaries of $12.625 million and $11.3 million over the next two years of the agreement.

Pittsburgh will incur a $21 million cap hit by trading Brown, who is owed a $2.5 million roster bonus on the third day of the league year.

In 2018, Brown appeared in 15 games for the Steelers and caught 104 passes for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 26 receiver out of 117 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Brown as the news is available.
