Bears Place DT John Jenkins On IR, Sign DT Daniel McCullers

Update:

The Chicago Bears announced Thursday that they’ve officially placed DT John Jenkins on injured reserve and signed DT Daniel McCullers off of the Steelers’ practice squad.

According to Ian Rapoport, Bears DT John Jenkins suffered a ligament tear in his thumb and is a candidate to be placed on injured reserve.

Jenkins was able to play through the rest of the game Sunday after suffering the injury but afterward, it was diagnosed as something that will keep him out several games.

Jenkins, 30, is a former third-round pick of the Saints back in 2013. Jenkins spent three years in New Orleans before he was waived during the 2016 season.

From there, Jenkins played for a number of teams including the Seahawks, Giants, Dolphins and Bears. Chicago re-signed him to a one-year deal this past April.

In 2020, Jenkins has appeared in two games for the Bears and recorded two tackles.
