Bears Expected To Show Interest In TE Jared Cook

Sean Jenson of the Chicago Tribune reports that a source has informed him that the Bears are “likely” to show interest in impending free agent Jared Cook in the coming weeks.

The Bears have been rumored to be looking for an upgrade at tight end for a few years now, so it’s not surprising that they would at least consider a guy like Cook.

Chicago brought in Aaron Kromer as their new offensive coordinator, so he could look to use cook in a similar role to that of Jimmy Graham, if they’re able to get him signed this offseason.

Cook, 25, hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations with the Titans, but you could easily point to the quarterback position has the main inhibiting factor.

Tennessee passed on franchising him yesterday, mainly because they were concerned that Cook could win his arbitration case where he would be arguing that he should be considered a receiver and not a tight end based on where he lined up from a season ago. Had cook won that case, he would have been the Titans highest paid player.

We have Cook listed as the No. 19 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

  1. I would read into this, the Bears don’t see Eifert being available at 20. I totally agree with their assessment. Cook may help, but to save cap room, I would trade Hester if anyone wants him.
