Bears Hire Former Giants GM Ernie Accorsi To Serve As Consultant

Chairman of the Chicago Bears George McCaskey announced during a Monday press conference that the team has hired former Giants GM Ernie Accorsi to serve as a consultant during the hiring process of a new head coach and general manager.

The Bears fired HC Marc Trestman, GM Phil Emery and OC Aaron Kromer so far, but the team has announced that all other assistants are still with the team for now.

Accorsi is a well respected front office piece by many around the league.  In addition to his time in New York, he has spent time with the Colts and Browns as well.

Little is known so far in terms of what the Bears are looking for.  The team has been linked to Mike Shanahan, who has obvious ties to QB Jay Cutler.

The team could look to Chris Ballard to fill the GM spot.  Ballard spent twelve years in Chicago under Jerry Angelo, as well as one year under Phil Emery.  He currently is the Director of Player Personnel for the Chiefs.

Another interesting name could be current Chiefs special teams coach Dave Toub, who also spent time in Chicago.  The Ballard-Toub combination will likely draw some degree of interest from the team.
