Steelers “Encouraged” By Ben Roethlisberger’s Progress

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reports that although QB Ben Roethlisberger is “doubtful” for Week 12, they are encouraged about where he is in his recovery from a sprained shoulder and a dislocated rib.

He had an additional test done today and all things are very positive in terms of where he is,” Tomlin said. “We’re encouraged about his status.”

There’s still no timetable in place for his return, but at least earlier indications are that he is progressing and there has been some talk that he could be back in time for Week 14’s matchup.

Pittsburgh Steelers’ doctors are reportedly “hopeful, though hardly optimistic,” that QB Ben Roethlisberger could return in time for Week 13’s matchup against the Ravens, via ESPN.com.

There’s been a lot of estimates in regards to the amount of time Roethlisberger will miss after he suffered a sprained shoulder and a dislocated rib, but it would definitely be surprising if he was indeed available to play against Baltimore.

Byron Leftwich is a questionable replacement when he’s 100 percent healthy, but he too seemed to be dealing with a rib injury of his own. Leftwich told reporters following Sunday’s game that the injury wasn’t that bad, but watching him grimace throughout the game seemed to suggest otherwise. There’s at least a chance that Charlie Batch could get the start in Week 12 when they take on the Browns.
