Ben Roethlisberger’s Ankle Getting Worse?

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger missed practice on Thursday because of a high-ankle sprain that he suffered against the Cleveland Browns last week. Ben is still hoping that he’ll be able to participate in the teams Saturday practice but admitted that his ankle currently feels worse than it did during last Thursday’s game.

The second half of that game you were playing off adrenaline, you were playing off emotion,” said Roethlisberger, via Scout.com. “The next couple days after that I just shook my head because I don’t know how – I couldn’t have done it; I don’t know how I did.

It’s amazing what adrenaline and wanting to be out there for your guys does.”

It’s hard to imagine Ben missing such an important game but his ankle is in pretty bad shape. Pittsburgh’s defense has been playing great and should be able to stop Alex Smith and a seemingly exhausted Frank Gore. Charlie Batch filled in for Roethlisberger last week but Dennis Dixon could be their best option if he’s unable to go. This is certainly a situation that we’ll be monitoring throughout the weekend.
