Bengals Re-Sign DT DeShawn Williams, Place CB Chykie Brown On I.R

The Cincinnati Bengals announced Monday that they’ve re-signed DT DeShawn Williams to their active roster and placed CB Chykie Brown on injured reserve.

Williams, 23, wound up signing on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson back in May of last year. He was waived at the start of last season but spent most of the year on the team’s practice squad.

The Bengals elected to sign Williams to a four-year contract this past May. However, the placed him on waivers this past weekend.

Williams has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Brown, 29, is a former fifth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2011. He spent a little over three years in Baltimore before he was waived and later claimed by the Giants.

New York elected to release him with an injury settlement at the start of the regular season, but he found limited interest throughout the year. The Bengals did sign him to a contract last season and later bring him back on a future/reserve contract this past February.

However, the Bengals cut Brown loose during the preseason but brought him back a few weeks later.

In 2016, Brown appeared in five  games and recorded two tackles and no interceptions.
