Bills Worked Out Four Defensive Tackles

The Buffalo Bills hosted four free agents for workouts on Friday including veteran DT Akeem Spence, according to Albert Breer.

The full list of players includes:

  1. DT Daryle Banfield
  2. DT Toby Johnson
  3. DT Akeem Spence
  4. DT Gabe Wright

Spence, 28, is a former sixth-round pick by the Buccaneers back in 2013. He finished out his four-year, $2,644,424 rookie contract with Tampa Bay before signing a three-year, $10.5 million contract with the Lions in 2017.

The Lions traded Spence to the Dolphins in 2018 for a conditional seventh-round draft pick. After being released by Miami, Spence had brief stints with the Eagles and Jaguars.

For his career, Spence has recorded 195 tackles, 10.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and three recoveries over the course of seven seasons and 103 games.

Johnson, 28, wound up going undrafted out of Georgia back in 2015. He later signed on with the Titans, but was waived a few months later.

From there, Johnson had brief stints with the Jaguars, Bears, Vikings and Panthers before signing on with the Lions during the 2017 season. Detroit brought him back the following years on a futures contract but was among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

In 2016, Johnson appeared in two games for the Vikings and recorded two tackles and no sacks.
