Brandon Scherff Hoping To Get Long-Term Extension Done With Redskins

Redskins franchise G Brandon Scherff says he’s hoping to sign a long-term extension that will ensure he’ll remain in Washington for the duration of his NFL career.

“It’s gone well,” Scherff said of the contractual process, via Redskins.com. “Just pretty much sat down and talked to my agent — that’s what he’s there for — and I want to sign a long-term deal with them, too. I love it there, and I’ve always said I wanted to be a Redskin for the rest of my career. So, hopefully we can work towards that.

Earlier in the week, Scherff officially signed his franchise tender for the 2020 season worth $14.781 million fully guaranteed.

“I’m excited,” Scherff said. “I’m still living out this dream, and I’m just glad I’m back with the Redskins again.”

Scherff, 28, is a former No. 5 overall pick by the Redskins out of Iowa in the 2015 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $21.215 million fully guaranteed rookie contract and is playing out the fifth-year option on that deal.

The Redskins picked up Scherff’s option in 2018 and paid him $12,525,000 for the 2019 season.

In 2019, Scherff started 11 games for the Redskins before landing on injured reserve. He was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 10 guard out of 80 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Scherff and the Redskins as the news is available.
