Braylon Edwards Prepared To Test The Market?

Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports that New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards appears to be prepared to test the free agent market.

“The Jets won’t fight that hard to keep him — that tells you more than enough,” La Canfora writes. “New York is in the middle of a huge effort to re-sign and retain its core youngsters. Edwards can be petulant, is inconsistent and has made poor decisions off the field. He will wow you with one moment of splendor then fall back into a bone-headed funk. I’d expect his worst traits to be exacerbated once he has that big contract. I wouldn’t go there.”

That’s a pretty tough critique but the concerns regarding Edwards are more than warranted. He played great for the Jets at times last season but failed to be an impact player down the stretch which will most likely lead to his departure from the team. The Jet’s have said that they would like to retain all of their free agent to be wide receivers but that will take some creative moves from GM Mike Tannenbaum.

Some have speculated that the Washington Redskins could be a possible destination for Edwards. You could add the Chicago Bears given their need for a tall receiving option to pair with their speedy wide receivers.
