Jadeveon Clowney Expected To Sign With Titans

Update:

Dianna Russini updates her earlier report by explaining that Jadeveon Clowney has told Titans’ officials he plans to sign with them.

Beyond that, Russini says Clowney has also texted with his new teammates his enthusiasm for joining the team and is expected to travel to Nashville soon.

Jadeveon Clowney tells Josina Anderson that he still has yet to make a decision about where he’s signing and teams are still calling him right now.

Aaron Wilson reports that the Titans and Saints continue to actively compete to sign Jadeveon Clowney and both teams are poised to fly him from Houston once a deal is finalized.

According to Wilson, a deal isn’t done yet, but sources have told him that the Titans have a “strong chance” to land Clowney.

However, Paul Kuhurasky hears that the Titans signing Clowney is “happening” and he’s confirmed it with sources.

Dianna Russini of ESPN reports that free agent DE Jadeveon Clowney is expected to sign with the Tennessee Titans.

Jadeveon Clowney

Pro Football Talk reports that Clowney is expected to sign a one-year contract worth $12 million with the Titans.

Clowney was reportedly deciding between the Titans and Saints with the Seahawks and Ravens reportedly in the mix for him as well.

New Orleans was making a strong push to get him under contract and even had spoken to the agents for some of their players to free up cap space if they were to sign him.

Instead, Clowney is reunited with Mike Vrabel, who previously worked as the Texans’ defensive coordinator before taking the Titans’ head coaching job.

Clowney, 27, is a former No. 1 overall pick of the Texans back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $22.272 million contract when the Texans picked up his fifth-year option which paid him $12.306 million for the 2018 season.

Houston franchised Clowney last year before trading him to the Seahawks at the start of the regular season.

In 2019, Clowney appeared in 13 games for the Seahawks and recorded 31 tackles, three sacks, an interception, two defensive touchdowns, four forced fumbles, two recoveries, and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 edge rusher out of 108 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.

  1. They will bring back a couple of those players, namely Bellore and Richardson. Not sure what Seattle will do about a DE now? Think Clowney is headed to the Titans…
