Patriots Signing G Shaq Mason To Five-Year Extension Worth Up To $50M

Mike Garafolo and Herbie Teope are reporting that the Patriots G Shaq Mason have agreed to terms on a five-year extension worth up to $50 million.

According to Teope, Mason’s contract includes $23.5 million guaranteed and close to $30 million paid out over the first three years of the contract.

This contract will leave Mason as one of the top-10 highest-paid guards in the NFL.

Mason, 24, is a former fourth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2015. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2,723,524 contract and set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season.
In 2017, Mason appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 4 guard out of 78 qualifying players.
