Raiders Releasing WR Michael Crabtree

Adam Schefter reports that the Raiders are releasing WR Michael Crabtree.

Reports have said for months that Crabtree could be on the chopping block this offseason and with the Raiders nearing a deal with Jordy Nelson, it became clear that Crabtree was likely going to be out in Oakland.

Crabtree, 30, is a former first-round pick of the 49ers back in 2009. He spent six years in San Francisco before signing on with the Raiders in 2015.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Crabtree would free up $7,687,500 of available cap space while creating no dead money.

Crabtree was entering the fourth year of his five-year, $34 million contract that included $19 million guaranteed and was set to make base salaries of $7 million and $7.5 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Crabtree appeared in 14 games and caught 58 passes for 618 yards receiving and eight touchdowns for the Raiders. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 62 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.
