Broncos Intend to Pick Up Option on QB Peyton Manning’s Contract

Denver Broncos president John Elway told reporters that they intend to pick up their two-year, $40 million (total) option on quarterback Peyton Manning‘s contract, according to ESPN.

This is hardly surprising given how things went for them in 2012, but it’s still a considerable amount of money to be paying anyone.

“I don’t think he’s going anywhere,” team owner Pat Bowlen said. “I got more than I expected.”

Manning led the Broncos to securing the No. 1 seed in the AFC, ripping off 11 straight wins during the regular season. The signal-caller put together a compelling argument for the MVP award this year, but couldn’t get past the Ravens in the divisional round of the postseason.
