Broncos Open To Trading No. 5 Overall Pick

On Thursday, Broncos executive VP John Elway told reporters that they’re open to trading down from No. 5 overall if the right opportunity presents itself next week.

“I’m open to trading (the No. 5 pick),” Elway said, per Nicki Jhabvala.

Otherwise, Elway said they plan to take the best player available regardless of position.

Elway expects trade talks to pick up next week with interested teams, per Jhabvala.

The Broncos are in an interesting spot at No. 5 overall, seeing as it’s possible that one of the top quarterback prospects could fall to them. Denver signed Case Keenum to a decent contract this offseason, but there’s still a chance that they could take a quarterback prospect to develop behind Keenum.

It’s also possible that a team such as the Dolphins or Bills could make them an appealing offer to trade out of the top-10 picks.

Denver would surely want a good package of draft picks if they’re to pass on a quarterback or even some of the other top prospects in this year’s draft, but this is at least something to watch next Thursday.

We’ll have more regarding the Broncos as the news is available.
