Broncos Prepared To Allow Knowshon Moreno To Leave & Start Montee Ball?

Mike Klis of the Denver Post writes that the Broncos appear to be prepared to allow RB Knowshon Moreno to depart in free agency.

  • According Klis, the Broncos want to give Montee Ball the “first chance at becoming their No. 1 running back in 2014.
  • Klis expects C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman to backup Ball next year.

Denver has said all along that they intend to allow their free agents to test the open market and hopefully come back to them with any offers they receive before signing elsewhere.

Moreno, 26, is coming off of a breakout 2013 season in which he totaled 1,039 yards rushing on 242 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with an impressive 13 total touchdowns. He also contributed 60 receptions for 548 yards receiving last year.

As for Ball, he was limited to 119 carries, but ran for 558 yards (4.7 YPC) and scored four touchdowns.

We have Moreno listed as the No. 36 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
