Browns Promote CB Robert Jackson, Sign CB Donnie Lewis Jr To PS

The Cleveland Browns announced Friday that they’ve promoted CB Robert Jackson to their active roster and signed CB Donnie Lewis Jr. to their practice squad.

Here’s the Browns updated practice squad:

  1. DT Brandin Bryant
  2. TE Stephen Carlson
  3. WR Shelton Gibson
  4. LB Willie Harvey
  5. S J.T. Hassell
  6. WR Derrick Willies
  7. C Willie Wright
  8. DB Tigie Sankoh (International)
  9. G Colby Gossett
  10. G Malcolm Pridgeon
  11. CB Donnie Lewis Jr.

This move comes after the Browns added CBs Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams to the injury report with hamstring issues.

Jackson, 25, wound up signing on with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of UNLV back in 2018. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Colts but was waived with an injury designation coming out of the preseason.

After he was waived by Indianapolis, Jackson had a brief stint on the Texans’ practice squad before joining the Browns. Cleveland brought him back on a futures contract this past January only to waive him at the start of the regular season and later signing him to their practice squad.

During his college career at UNLV, Jackson recorded 54 tackles, a half sack, no interceptions and nine pass defenses over the course of 16 games.
