Browns Sign LB Malcolm Smith

The Cleveland Browns announced Sunday that they’ve signed LB Malcolm Smith to a contract and waived C Casey Dunn (foot) with an injury designation.

Smith worked out for the Browns earlier in the week.

Smith, 31, is a former seventh-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract with the Seahawks and was named Super Bowl MVP a few years ago before signing a two-year deal with the Raiders in 2015.

The 49ers signed Smith to a five-year, $26.5 million contract that included $13 million guaranteed. He stood to make a base salary of $3,750,000 for the 2019 season when his contract released coming out of the preseason.

Smith caught on briefly with the Jaguars this year before eventually joining the Cowboys late last season.

In 2019, Smith appeared in four games and recorded five tackles, no sacks or interceptions and a forced fumble for the Cowboys.

We had him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
