Buccaneers Now Showing Interest In DT Derek Landri

According to the Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers are also showing interest in former Eagles DT Derek Landri.

The report mentions that the Buc’s are still hoping to sign DT Amobi Okoye, but see Landri as a reasonable contingency option should they lose out on Okoye.

Landri, 28, was used as a rotational tackle for the Eagles last season, but he was amazingly effective in the limited work that he received. In fact, he was rated by Pro Football Focus as being the #3 best DT in the league. Now obviously that’s overstating his ability some, but he it’s worth noting that he was very effective as an interior pass rusher last season. That probably had something to do with guys like Jason Babin, Trent Cole and Cullen Jenkins, but at least he was able to capitalize on his opportunity.

We have him rated as the #8 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
