Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate Underwent Surgery For Torn Labrum In Hip

Jenna Laine reports that Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate underwent surgery after playing the majority of the 2018 season with a torn labrum in his hip.

According to Laine, Brate had bone fragments removed from his hip last week and is currently on crutches. However, the expectation is that Brate will need a “few months” of recovery time in the hope of being ready for the start of minicamp in June.

Brate, 27, signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard back in 2014. He was on and off of their active roster during the first two years in the NFL and had a brief stint with the Saints before returning to the Buccaneers in September of 2015.

The Buccaneers signed Brate to a six-year, $41 million contract last year that includes $18 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $7 million and $6 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Brate appeared in all 16 games for the Buccaneers and caught 30 passes for 289 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
