The Buccaneers placed TE Troy Niklas on injured reserve on Monday and activated LB Jack Cichy from the PUP list.
The move clears space on the roster for QB Vincent Testaverde. Niklas was signed recently but lasted only one practice in Tampa Bay before going down.
Niklas, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $4,023,298 contract and made a base salary of $968,631 for the 2017 season.
Niklas signed with the Patriots to a one-year deal back in April of last year but was cut loose after a few months.
In 2017, Niklas appeared in 15 games for the Cardinals and caught 11 passes for 132 yards receiving and one touchdown.
