Cardinals Place K Phil Dawson On IR, Promote K Zane Gonzalez

The Arizona Cardinals announced Monday that they’ve placed K Phil Dawson on injured reserve and promoted K Zane Gonzalez to their active roster.

Dawson, 43, has played 20 seasons in the NFL including 14 for the Browns and four for the 49ers before signing on with the Cardinals in 2017.

In 2018, Dawson appeared in 10 games for the Cardinals and converted 5 of 8 field goal attempts (62.5 percent) to go along with all 15 extra point tries.

Gonzalez, 23, is a former seventh-round pick of the Browns back in 2017. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.48 million contract and set to make a base salary of $555,000 in 2018 when the Browns waived him a few weeks into the regular season.

The Cardinals later signed Gonzalez to their practice squad.

In 2018, Gonzalez has appeared in two games and converted just two of five field goal attempts and three of five extra point tries for the Browns.
