Cardinals Release RBs Marion Grice & Robert Hughes

The Arizona Cardinals announced that they’ve released running backs Marion Grice and Robert Hughes on Friday.

Grice, 23, is a former sixth-round pick of the Chargers back in May of last year. He was unable to make the Chargers’ 53-man roster coming out of the preseason last year, but later signed on with the Cardinals a few weeks into the season.

Unfortunately, Arizona waived Grice with an injury settlement at the start of this season. He briefly joined the Lions’ practice squad before later signing a future/reserve deal with the Cardinals at the end of the year.

In 2014, Grice appeared in 10 games and ran for 41 yards on 15 carries (2.7 YPC) to go along with seven receptions for 29 yards receiving and one total touchdown.

Hughes, 26, originally signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame back in 2011. Since then, Hughes has played for a number of teams including the Buccaneers, Redskins, Colts and Cardinals.

Arizona also signed him to a future/reserve deal after the season.

In 2014, Hughes appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals and ran for 11 yards on seven carries (1.6 YPC) to go along with eight receptions for 140 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
