Cardinals Waive RB Michael Bush & TE Matthew Mulligan, Activate OLB Matt Shaughnessy

The Arizona Cardinals have placed RB Michael Bush and TE Matthew Mulligan on waivers Friday and activated OLB Matt Shaughnessy from the short-term injured reserve list.

  • Cardinals also promoted RB Kerywnn Williams from their practice squad.

Shaughnessy suffered a knee injury back in October and has missed eight games.

Shaughnessy, 28, signed a two-year, $4.4 million contract with the Cardinals back in March, which includes another $2.2 million in incentives. So far this season, Shaughnessy has recorded nine tackles over the course of four games.

Bush, 30, was a surprising addition for Arizona close to two weeks ago, and even though Andre Ellington is dealing with an injury, it appears as though the Cardinals are more confident going with their other options running back.

Bush signed a four-year contract with the Bears back in 2012, but he lasted just two years with the team before he was cut loose this past March. He found very little interest as a free agent throughout the offseason. Last year, he appeared in 15 games and ran for 197 yards on 63 carries (3.1 YPC) and scored four touchdowns.

Mulligan, 29, has been with the team for close to a month, but has yet to play a single snap for the Cardinals.

He’s a well traveled blocking tight end, who most recently played for the Bears. Since being cut loose by Chicago, Mulligan hadn’t found any reported interest before this. Last year, he appeared in 15 games and caught two passes for 16 yards receiving and a touchdown.
