Speaking at training camp, Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb publicly lobbied to owner Jerry Jones to get an extension done with Pickens. Lamb said he’s “sure we can make a way” and pleaded to the team’s owner to get it done so they can get Dallas a “couple more championships.”

“I’m sure we can make a way,” Lamb said, via Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein. “I know it’s going to be a little crazy, but I know we can make a way for this one. Listen, this is my advocation: ‘@ Jerry, can you please figure out a way? Let’s figure it out. I don’t care what needs to happen.'”

“‘Let’s figure it out and it’s going to get you a couple more championships.'”

Lamb denied any narratives that he won’t want to split targets and made it clear his only focus is winning.

“I don’t have no ego here, I want to win. I don’t understand the narrative or X, Y, Z, but it is what it is.”

Dallas EVP Stephen Jones said extending Pickens is realistic, but he admitted they will need to figure out the rest of the spending for DT Quinnen Williams and pass rush help

“Yeah, just you got to tell me the rest [of our spending], too,” Jones said. “At some point, you’ve got to figure that out. But no, I think it’s realistic.”

Pickens, 25, was a preseason All-American second-team selection in 2021 and a second-team preseason All-SEC at Georgia. The Steelers used the No. 52 overall pick on him in the 2022 NFL Draft.

He was in the final year of a four-year $6,752,177 rookie contract that included a $2,090,674 signing bonus when he was traded to the Cowboys after the draft for a future third-round pick.

Dallas franchised Pickens at a sum of $27.298 million fully guaranteed for the 2026 season.

In 2025, Pickens appeared in all 17 games for the Cowboys and caught 93 passes for 1,429 yards receiving and nine touchdowns.
