Danario Alexander Goes Unclaimed, Reverts To Chargers IR

Danario Alexander passed through waivers on Monday without being claimed by another team, according to the NFL transactions release.

This means that Alexander will now be placed on the Chargers IR list, effectively ending his 2013 season.

Alexander, 24, will be an unrestricted free agent following the season, so hopefully he’ll be able to rehab his surgically repaired knee in time to show teams that he’s in good enough shape to play in 2014.

The San Diego Chargers announced that WR Danario Alexander suffered an ACL tear in his right knee and will miss the entire 2013 season.

Alexander, 24, tweaked his right knee during Tuesday’s practice, but initial reports indicated that the injury wasn’t anything serious. Alexander has undergone numerous surgeries on his left knee, so this is a major concern for him moving forward.

Many expected Alexander to have a breakout season for the Chargers, but with him out, third-round pick WR Keenan Allen could be asked to take on a larger role in 2013.
