The Los Angeles Chargers are exercising WR Mike Williams‘ fifth-year option for the 2021 season, according to Albert Breer.
The fifth-year option is guaranteed for injury only and won’t prevent the two parties from negotiating a contract extension over the next year or so.
Williams, 25, was selected with the No. 7 overall pick by the 2017 NFL draft. He is entering the final year of a four-year contract worth $19.75 million which includes a signing bonus of $12.50 million.
In 2019, Williams appeared in 15 games for the Chargers and had 49 receptions for 1,001 yards (20.4 YPC) and two touchdowns.
