Chargers Rookie TE Austin Roberts Suffers Torn ACL

Chargers HC Anthony Lynn announced Sunday that rookie TE Austin Roberts suffered an ACL tear during yesterday’s practice and will miss the entire 2018 season, per Jack Wang.

You can expect the Chargers to place Roberts on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.

Roberts wound up going undrafted out of UCLA. He tried out for the 49ers during their rookie minicamp but wasn’t signed to a contract.

The Chargers hosted him for a workout during their rookie minicamp and eventually signed him to a contract towards the end of May.

During his three-year college career at UCLA, Roberts appeared in 17 games and caught 35 passes for 500 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
