Chargers Sign RB Troymaine Pope To Practice Squad

The Los Angeles Chargers announced Friday that they’ve signed RB Troymaine Pope to their practice squad.

Here’s the Chargers updated practice squad:

  1. RB Darius Bradwell
  2. DB John Brannon
  3. LB Cole Christiansen
  4. WR Jeff Cotton
  5. NT Breiden Fehoko
  6. G Nathan Gilliam
  7. G Ryan Groy
  8. WR Tyron Johnson
  9. DE Jessie Lemonier
  10. DB Quenton Meeks
  11. DT T.J. Smith
  12. C Cole Toner
  13. DB Donte Vaughn
  14. DE Joe Gaziano
  15. LB Malik Jefferson
  16. RB Troymaine Pope

Pope, 26, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville State back in May. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later claimed off of waivers by the Jets.

Pope has had brief stints with the Seahawks, Colts and Texans before signing on to the Chargers’ practice squad back in December. He was later promoted to their active roster for a few weeks and returned to the Chargers on a futures contract this past January.

However, he was later released.

In 2019, Pope appeared in 14 games for the Chargers and rushed for 20 yards on 10 carries (1.4 YPC) to go along with two receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown. He also totaled 288 kick return yards.
