Chargers TE Hunter Henry Has Small Kidney Laceration

Chargers HC Anthony Lynn announced Monday that TE Hunter Henry is dealing with a small laceration in his kidney and his status is up in the air moving forward.

Any organ damage is obviously a big concern. However, players have dealt with similar injuries in recent years and have been able to return, so this is really just something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

Henry, 23, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2016. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $6.38 million contract that included $3.98 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $1.03 million and $1.32 million over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Henry has appeared in 14 games for the Chargers and caught 45 passes for 579 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 tight end out of 74 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Henry’s status as the news is available.
