Chargers Waive QB Eli Jenkins

The Los Angeles Chargers officially placed QB Eli Jenkins on waivers Thursday.

The this comes after the Chargers acquired QB Cardale Jones from the Bills in exchange for a conditional 2019 seventh-round pick, so it appears as though there weren’t going to be many snaps for Jenkins moving forward.

Jenkins, 22, signed a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville State this past May. He stands to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the agreement.

During his four-year college career, Jenkins appeared in 53 games for Jacksonville State and recorded 583 completions on 1,031 pass attempts (56.5 percent) for 7,652 passing yards, 47 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.
