Chiefs Place QB Chad Henne On IR, Re-Sign G Jeff Allen, Sign Six To PS

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Sunday that they’ve placed QB Chad Henne on injured reserve and re-signed G Jeff Allen. Chiefs LB Jeremiah Attaochu was released.

The Chiefs also signed six players to their practice squad including:

  1. WR Joe Fortson
  2. TE Nick Keizer
  3. RB Marcus Marshall
  4. C James Murray
  5. QB Kyle Shurmur
  6. WR Cody Thompson

Henne, 34, is a former second-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2008. He played four years for Miami before signing with the Jaguars as a free agent in 2012.

Henne restructured his contract last season with the Jaguars to a one-year, $3,250,000 contract. The Chiefs signed him to a two-year, $6.7 million deal back in March.

In 2016 and 2017, Henne appeared in a combined three games for the Jaguars and has had just two passing attempts.

Allen, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract in Kansas City before signing a four-year, $28 million contract that included $12 million guaranteed with the Texans back in 2016.

Allen had two years remaining on the agreement when the Texans waived him from the PUP list with an injury settlement in 2018. Allen re-signed with the Chiefs on a one-year deal in October and just recently returned to Kansas City a few weeks ago.

In 2018, Allen appeared in 10 games for the Chiefs and started four. According to Pro Football Focus, he had a 56.5 grade on 224 snaps.
