Chiefs Waiving DL Rakeem Nunez-Roches

The Kansas City Chiefs are waiving DL Rakeem Nunez-Roches on Tuesday, according to Terez A. Paylor.

The move, according to Paylor, is purely a cap move and due to the fact that he was set to make $1.9 million as a backup for the 2018 season.

Nunez-Rochez posted a video on Twitter thanking the Chiefs for his time in Kansas City.

Nunez-Roches, 24, is a former sixth-round pick out of Southern Miss by the Chiefs back in the 2014 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year rookie contract but wound up being waived and signed to the team’s practice squad.

The Chiefs eventually promoted him to their active roster and tendered him at the original-round level this offseason.

In 2017, Nunez-Roches appeared in all 16 games for the Chiefs and recorded 24 total tackles and 0.5 of a sack.
