Aaron Wilson reports that the Indianapolis Colts are promoting undrafted free agent WR Da’Rick Rogers to their active roster today.
Typically, players being add from the practice squad doesn’t fall into the category of interesting news, but the Colts the recently lost TEÂ Dwayne Allen for the season. This could be an indication that they intend to employ more three and four-wide formations in the coming weeks.
Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton and Darrius Heyward-Bey are clearly entrenched as the team’s top-three receivers, but Rogers could see some action if they go four-receiver sets.
Rogers signed with the Bills after going undrafted, but he didn’t receive a lot of playing time during the preseason and was later a roster cut. He’s clearly a very talented receiver who comes with some serious off-the-field concerns.
