Colts Signing K Matt Gay To Practice Squad

The Colts have signed K Matt Gay to their practice squad, per Gay’s agent.

While starting K Rodrigo Blankenship missed a field goal Sunday, Indianapolis also could just want to have a backup on hand in case Blankenship tests positive for COVID-19.

The Colts practice squad now includes 17 players and Indianapolis will need to make a corresponding move by releasing one of these players:

  1. DB Andre Chachere
  2. DT Kameron Cline
  3. G Jake Eldrenkamp
  4. WR Daurice Fountain
  5. TE Farrod Green
  6. DE Gerri Green
  7. WR DeMichael Harris
  8. C Joey Hunt
  9. QB Chad Kelly
  10. T Carter O’Donnell
  11. DB Tremon Smith
  12. DT Chris Williams
  13. DT Robert Windsor
  14. RB Darius Anderson
  15. TE Charlie Taumoepeau
  16. S Ibraheim Campbell
  17. K Matt Gay

Gay, 26, was drafted by the Buccaneers in the fifth round out of Utah in 2019. He was entering the second year of his four-year, $2.8 million deal when Tampa Bay waived him coming out of camp this year.

In 2019, Gay appeared in all 16 games for the Buccaneers and made 27-35 field goal attempts (77.1 percent) and 43-48 extra points (89.6 percent).
