Danny Amendola & The Rams “Far Apart” Regarding A Contract Extension

The Rams and WR Danny Amendola are reportedly far apart regarding a long-term extension, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Rams head coach Jeff Fisher mentioned that they would like to retain Amendola, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent in a matter of weeks.

“We’ve got plenty of time. The process is ongoing. We’re communicating with their agents and so on and so forth,” said Coach Fisher.

Amendola, 27, is in a great position to command a decent contract on the open market, which means the Rams will have to make a competitive offer to prevent him from playing elsewhere next season. The report adds that  Brandon Gibson “doesn’t appear likely” to return, and the recent release Titus Young implies that St Louis could be short on receivers as they head into the offseason. Fisher, however, doesn’t appear to be phased by the situation.

“There’s options out there,” said Fisher. “The free-agent market, there’s options out there, and it’s a great draft for a receiver this year.”
