DeMarco Murray Won’t Play In Week 7, Felix Jones Expected To Start

Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray‘s foot injury he sustained in Sunday’s loss to the Ravens will keep out for Week 7.

“I think we were encouraged that his sprain was not any more serious than it is,” owner Jerry Jones said, per Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News.. “He’s a tough guy. I regret that we’re not going to have him against Carolina, which looks obvious. I’m encouraged that we’re going to have him as we move along. He’s playing outstanding. He’s going to get better and better.”

Murray will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis. Felix Jones will likely fill in for Murray for the time being. During Sunday’s game, Jones rushed for 92 yards on 18 carries. As Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com noted yesterday, this could be Jones’ last opportunity to showcase himself as an every-down back before he hit free agency following this season.
