Dolphins Claim CB Breon Borders Off Waivers From Steelers

The Miami Dolphins announced Wednesday that they’ve claimed CB Breon Borders off of waivers from the Steelers.

Borders, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Duke back in 2017. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Raiders cut him loose coming out of the preseason and later signed him to their practice squad.

The Bills signed Borders to their roster late in the season. However, he was waived again coming out of the preseason the following year. He had stints on the practice squad with the Texans and Jaguars before being signed to Jacksonville’s active roster.

Borders made the Jaguars’ final roster in 2019 but was waived and re-signed to the practice squad late in the year. He later had a stint with Washington before signing on with the Steelers in April.

In 2019, Borders appeared in 12 games for the Jaguars and Redskins, recording 12 total tackles and one fumble recovery.
