Dolphins Have Contacted Multiple Teams Including Chiefs About A Trade For A RB

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins have contacted multiple teams including the Chiefs regarding a potential trading involving a running back.

This comes after the news that Chiefs backup RB Knile Davis has requested a trade out of Kansas City.

Salguero mentions that it appears Davis is the only running back available now that they’ve signed Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware to a contract extensions on Thursday.

While the Chiefs are working on a potential trade involving Davis, Salguero doesn’t expect the Chiefs to come close to recouping the third-round pick they invested in Davis a few years ago.

The Dolphins have struck out on running backs up to this point in free agency, as they lost  Lamar Miller to the Texans, had their offer sheet for C.J. Anderson matched by the Broncos, and free agent options like Chris Johnson and James Starks elected to re-sign with their respective teams.

Some have suggested that the Dolphins could consider drafting Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott in round one if he’s still on the board at No. 13 overall.

Miami has approached free agency rather conservative this year, and is reportedly focused on players who won’t impact their future compensatory picks, so they could pursue a trade or wait and bring in a free agent this summer.

We’ll have more regarding the Dolphins’ options at running back as the news is available.
