Dolphins Expected To Move On From DE Cameron Wake

According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins haven’t expressed interest in re-signing veteran DE Cameron Wake this offseason and he’s expected to move on in free agency.

Salguero says that multiple teams have signaled interest in signing Wake for the 2019 season, so he should have a market in the coming days.

A club source tells Salguero that there has been “very limited” communication between the Dolphins and Wake since they fired HC Adam Gase.

Back in December, Wake said he would like to be back in Miami for the 2019 season, but he’s at least willing to consider other options if need be.

“Another jersey?” Wake said Friday, via the Palm Beach Post. “Ideally, no. But I mean, again, if option number one is not in my favor and they don’t want me but I can still play and I can still provide and still enjoy it whatever needs to happen. If it makes sense then I’ll do it. If it doesn’t then I won’t.

Wake, 36, wound up going undrafted out of Penn State back in 2005. He signed on with the Giants but was released a few months later.

After two years in the CFL, the Dolphins signed him to a contract for the 2009 season. Wake played out the final year of his two-year, $19 million contract and is in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2018, Wake has appeared in 14 games and recorded 36 tackles, six sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defense.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
