Dolphins Hire Al Saunders As Offensive Consultant

Albert Breer of NFL Media reports that the Miami Dolphins have begun the process of shuffling their offensive coaching staff on Wednesday.

According to Breer, the Dolphins have hired veteran assistant Al Saunders as an offensive consultant. Breer notes that Saunders is close to current offensive coordinator Bill Lazor.

Interestingly enough, Miami is also moving assistant quarterbacks coach Ben Johnson to tight ends and re-assigning receivers coach Ken O’Keefe, according to Breer.

Breer adds that more changes to the Dolphins’ coaching staff are possible in the coming days, but the team ultimately elected to address their offense first.

Interim HC Dan Campbell still needs to make a decision as to whether or not they’ll retain defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle.

Recent reports have said that the Dolphins players are actually hoping for the team to make a change in defensive leadership, so we’ll have to see if that leads to Coyle losing his job much like Joe Philbin did a few days ago.

We’ll have more as the news is available.
