Eagles Announce 10 Coaching Changes Including Hiring Matt Burke As Defensive Assistant

The Philadelphia Eagles announced 10 coaching changes on Monday including the addition of former Dolphins DC Matt Burke as a defensive special assistant.

Here’s the full list:

  1. Phillip Daniels promoted to defensive line coach
  2. Carson Walch promoted to wide receivers coach
  3. Mike Bartrum hired as assistant tight ends coach
  4. Matthew Harper named assistant wide receivers coach
  5. Roy Istvan hired as assistant offensive line coach
  6. T.J. Paganetti named assistant running backs coach
  7. Luke Thompson hired as assistant special teams coach
  8. Matt Burke hired as defensive special assistant
  9. G.J. Kinne hired as offensive special projects
  10. Joe Pannunzio hired as director of team development

Burke, 42, began his coaching career at Bridgton Academy back in 1998. He worked for a few NFL teams including the Titans, Lions and Bengals before the Dolphins hired him as their linebackers coach in 2016.

The Dolphins would later promote Burke to defensive coordinator after the Broncos hired Vance Joseph.

In 2016, the Dolphins ranked No. 25 in points allowed, No. 30 in yards allowed, No. 31 in rushing yards allowed and No. 19 in passing yards allowed.
