Eagles Sign Former AAF WR Charles Johnson To One-Year Contract

The Eagles announced on Tuesday they’ve signed WR Charles Johnson to a one-year deal.

Johnson, 30, originally signed on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Grand Valley State back in 2013. He had a brief stint with the Browns before the Vikings signed him off of their practice squad at the start of the 2014 season.

The Panthers signed Johnson to a one-year, $2.2 million contract in 2017 but he was placed on injured reserve in July and eventually cut loose in February.

Johnson caught on with the AAF’s Orlando Apollos and led the league in receiving in its first and only season.

In his last NFL action in 2016, Johnson appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and caught 20 passes for 232 yards receiving and no touchdowns. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 90 receiver out of 115 qualifying players that season.
