Falcons Expected To Re-Sign DE Courtney Upshaw

Vaughn McClure of ESPN is reporting that the Falcons are expected to re-sign veteran DE Courtney Upshaw but an agreement is unlikely to be in place until next week.

There had been talk that Upshaw was likely to return to Atlanta after he proved to be a valuable and versatile player for the Falcons this past season.

Upshaw, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Ravens back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with the Ravens before signing a one-year contract with the Falcons back in March of last year.

In 2016, Upshaw appeared in 13 games for the Falcons and recorded 24 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble, a recovery and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 76 edge rusher out of 109 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Upshaw returning to the Falcons as the news is available.
